Sen. Lindsey Graham Remembered as Advocate for Wildlife, Conservation

WASHINGTON, D.C. (July 12, 2026) — U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) was a steady and strong advocate for bipartisan solutions to conserve and restore America’s lands and coasts, recover at-risk species, and address some of the biggest challenges facing wildlife and people.

“The National Wildlife Federation is saddened to learn of the passing of Senator Lindsey Graham. Throughout his tenure in Congress, Senator Graham was a reliable friend of wildlife, serving as a lead co-sponsor of the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act, championing the Great American Outdoors Act, creating the U.S. Foundation for International Conservation, and co-founding the Roosevelt Conservation Caucus,” said Collin O’Mara, president and CEO of the National Wildlife Federation. “He protected ocean wildlife and South Carolina’s low country by opposing offshore drilling, investing in coastal resilience, and curbing methane pollution. Although we didn’t agree on everything, we always appreciated the Senator’s open door and his passion for wildlife and wild places.

“Our thoughts and condolences are with his family, his staff, and the people of South Carolina.”
