Rocky Branch Volunteer Day

Day of the Week: Saturday

Event Date: May 16, 2026

Time: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Location: State Rd S-36-73, Little Mountain, SC 29075

Calling all volunteers!

We’re looking for some strong and capable nature lovers that are willing to help South Carolina Wildlife Federation, The Palmetto Trail, and the town of Little Mountain as we repair an existing bridge and build a new bridge for an additional crossing at the Rocky Branch Natural Area in Newberry county. This park was devastated by Hurricane Helene when over 200 trees fell, making it impassable. Over the last year and a half, the trail has been partially cleared allowing for partial access, but to complete the loop, one bridge needs to be repaired and another needs to be built. To repair the existing bridge we will be removing old lumber and replacing it with new materials. To build the new bridge we will need a handy team to help construct it at a second crossing of Rocky Branch, the creek which runs through this beautiful park, bringing us one step closer to re-opening this unique natural area to the public. This project is funded by Duke Energy’s America250 Grant.  Hope to see you there!
