The South Carolina Wildlife Federation (SCWF) will present a Wildlife And Industry Together (WAIT) Conference on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at the Renewable Water Resources (ReWa) facility in Greenville, South Carolina. 
 
waitAs South Carolina becomes increasingly developed, there is less land available for wildlife. Corporate landowners can offset habitat loss by devoting their under-utilized lands to wildlife. This is achieved by matching site employees who are interested in wildlife with community partners to develop habitat plans.
The WAIT program assists corporations, employees, facility neighbors and other groups who desire to develop environmental projects in partnership with each other.  Click here to learn more about the WAIT program and see a list of our 2012 certified sites. 
 
WAIT Conference Agenda:
  
10:00 am - 12:00 pm:  Intro to Wildllife Habitat Creation 
  • basics of wildlife habitat creation
  • providing food, water, cover & places to raise young for wildlife
  • building a Carolina Fence™ Garden,
  • attracting butterflies, songbirds, turkey, quail, and white-tailed deer,
  • sustainable gardening and grounds-keeping practices,
  • planning your habitat projects,
  • finding local resources, and
  • WAIT certification and annual re-certification.
 
12:00 pm - 1:00 pm:  Networking Lunch
 
1:00 pm - 3:00 pm: Wildlife And Industry Together (WAIT) Roundtable
  • sharing of best practices by WAIT certified industries
  • questions to SCWF or current WAIT sites from new and potential WAIT sites

3:00 pm: Walking Tour of the ReWa section of the Swamp Rabbit Trail
