An Outdoor Family Adventure

*admission to this event is FREE*

On October 1, 2011, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Upstate’s Fifth Annual 2011 National Hunting and Fishing Day will be held at Duke Energy's World of Energy site in Seneca, SC.  The event is designed to celebrate with those who enjoy the outdoors and encourage others to get outside.

Visitors will participate in more than 20 outdoor activities. Experts will be on hand to teach children and adults how to safely fire air rifles, the art of archery, kayaking, dress in camouflage for serious games of hide and seek, and fish in Lake Keowee - making it a fun-filled day in the outdoors for the whole family. All events are free.

The roots of National Hunting and Fishing Day dates back to 1972 when President Richard Nixon signed the first proclamation of National Hunting and Fishing Day, writing, "I urge all citizens to join with outdoor sportsmen in the wise use of our natural resources and in insuring their proper management for the benefit of future generations."

Guests can bring a picnic lunch or purchase food from the onsite concessionaire. Event parking with free shuttle from Hwy. 130.
