Guided Bird Hike through Congaree Creek Heritage Preserve

  • Congaree Creek Heritage Preserve Old State Road Cayce, SC United States (map)

Join SCWF and Congaree Riverkeeper for their second Sunday hike of the year at Congaree Creek Heritage Preserve. The 627-acre preserve is loaded with history. Archaeologists have found tools, pottery, arrowheads, and other evidence that people have lived in and around the preserve for nearly 12,000 years.

This hike will focus on the birds who inhabit Congaree Creek Heritage Preserve and will be lead by Pro-Birder Jay Keck. Jay has been a passionate nature and bird lover since his early teens. He lives in Chapin, SC with his wife and two boys. He has identified 95 bird species in his yard in three years, as well as 160 species in Lexington County since moving back in September of 2013. He has viewed birds in Spain, Chile, Honduras, and Costa Rica, as well as many areas in SC from the mountains to the coast. He is a passionate promoter of nature, birding, and conservation, and has led walks at Saluda Shoals and other Lexington, SC parks.

Suggested donation for this hike is $5 but not required. Please sign up through the EventBrite link directly below.
