Join us for a hike of the Timmerman Trail

  • Timmerman Trail Granby Landing Road Cayce, SC, 29033 United States (map)

Start your week off right! Join Congaree Riverkeeper and South Carolina Wildlife Federation for the first Sunday hike in a series of collaborative hikes to:
(1) Get folks outside -- up close and personal to the habitats, trails, & rivers we work so hard to protect.
(2) Create space(s) for individual and families in our community to interact with each other and develop healthy relationships focused around our environment.
(3) Provide a casual and fun learning environment to foster natural curiosity in our local habitats.

Our first hike will feature Bill Stangler, Congaree Riverkeeper, as he guides us along the Timmerman Trail. He'll be talking all things river-related, as well as pointing out indigenous plants, insects, and animals that support our river habitats. In addition, he'll have SPOOKY historical lore to share about the specific trail/area we'll be hiking.

About the Timmerman Trail: The Timmerman Trail trail is paved, and for our specific hike, will be about 2.5 miles total. This is considered an easy/less-strenuous hike, and the trail is stroller & wheelchair accessible. The trail itself runs along the Congaree River as well as Congaree Creek, along the outskirts of Cayce near I-77 & SCANA headquarters. It is part of the Cayce Riverwalk and begins just west of the 12th street extension. Parking is abundantly available.

Bring: comfortable clothes, walking shoes, and water if you need it.

Note: there are no public restrooms at this site.
